Room 306
Class Letter
September 3, 2019
Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to 4th grade! Hopefully your child has an exciting first day and is looking forward to all we will do this school year. This first week we will be working on building a class community as we learn about our classmates and ourselves. In addition, we will be working on developing routines and skills that will set the stage for learning throughout the school year. On Tuesday, your child will complete a learning style inventory that focuses on what modes (visual, auditory or kinesthetic) your child uses when they are learning new concepts, and they will discuss and explore how they can use this knowledge to help them learn better. Your child will bring home their science journal in order to share with you his/her inventory and a circle graph of their results. Please take a moment to look at this with your child, and see if you have any insights to add.
Your child will have two teachers this year. Working as a team and setting high expectations allows us to ensure your child has a great year. Ms. Lezotte will be the math and science teacher in Room 303, and Ms. Michel will teach social studies and language arts in Room 306. Because your child will split their time between two teachers, it’s extra important to keep the lines of communication open. We will both be using google classroom this year to communicate daily class information with students and parents. You will get an email invite once the students have signed up with us. The Coonley class websites will be a source for you to receive general information. We also use Twitter to highlight interesting events in the classroom (@Lezotte303 and @MsMichel306). Please feel free to contact us with questions or concerns. Email is the best way to get in touch with us ([email protected] and [email protected]), we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours.
At the bottom of this letter is a link to a questionnaire that will help us get to know your child and his/her unique learning needs. The questionnaire will enable us to tailor lessons for this class. Please take a moment to complete this questionnaire by Tuesday September 9th. If you have any additional information you would like to offer, please feel free to email us.
Thank you for helping us start off a wonderful year. We look forward to getting to know your child and working together with you to create a wonderful learning experience for this class!
Kindest Regards,
Ms. Ellen Lezotte Ms. Rachel Michel
